I am happy to announce that my website is live again after about a week of downtime.
I’ve switched hosts – so we’ll see how this one works out. Hopefully it will be all I need.

You’ve probably noticed that this theme isn’t the one I had before. My plan has been to make a new custom theme for the site, but that’s nowhere close to being complete. So until I’ve restored everything from my backup, this is what you’re going to see.

I’ll have to make it a priority, though, before anything will get done. :P

I plan to:

  • Replace the downloads area with a single page listing all the software I like. This will be much easier to fill out than the current setup which is really more than i need. (done)
  • Add a Digsby widget to the contact page (done) – and maybe tweak the HTML a bit. Other than that, it’s perfect.
  • Make a better design for the whole site. I’m kinda tired of this one (and I really never made the final touches that it needs).
  • Integrate some of those 80×15 buttons into the site, somehow, somewhere. I like ‘em. :)
  • Make an About Me page Add info about me to the “about/contact” page.
  • Integrate my own OpenID. (done)
  • Add a Twitter username field to the comment form.

Can’t think of anything else at the moment. Maybe I can do some of this soon.

But in reading the article and looking at exactly what they offer, I can’t help but think that I wouldn’t run a hosting company quite like they do (if I even had one, of course). Now, I haven’t sat down and figured out just how I might run such a business; I’d probably oversell to some degree (I’d be naive not to), but not to their degree.

Edit: Just found this article – it’s not explicitly about overselling, but it does give some insight into how a hosting company might sell their services.
